MIRT TESTIMONIALS

"The MIRT is remarkable due to its intercultural character. It was interesting to learn how Christians from different parts of the world apply Reformed theology in their particular context."

- Oleksii Blyzniuk, MIRT Class of 2018-2019.

WHY STUDY IN KAMPEN?

GUEST LECTURE EDUARDO ECHEVERRIA

NOVEMBER 26 2019

Many churches or one church? For some, it is a problem, for others not. Still, the dividedness of the church confronts us with questions, not only about the unity of the church but also about the unity of the truth: divisions within the church cause epistemological and hermeneutical questions as well. We face a diversity of interpretations of Scripture, a diversity of opinions about the gospel and Christian doctrine. Abraham Kuyper tried to solve this questions in his ecclesiastical epistemology, defending the pluriformity of the church as well as the pluriformity of our understanding of the truth. Does this imply relativism?

Prof dr Eduardo Echeverria is a catholic philosopher and theologian, who knows the Dutch neocalvinist tradition very well. He will share with us his reflections from a Roman Catholic perspective on these questions and on Abraham Kuyper’s position. The long version of the paper can be accessed here. An interesting event for all with an interest in Abraham Kuyper, neocalvinism, roman catholic theology, the church, epistemology, hermeneutics, and the truth!

26 november 2019, 13:30, room 4.
