Lending

The primary focus of the Library of the Theological University is to facilitate and support its students and lecturers in their research and studies. Furthermore, other interested parties are welcome to use its facilities.

Lending books from our own collection is without charge. However, one must apply for a library card. The lending regulations can be found at the bottom of this page.

In case of loss or damage, a new pass can be issued with the following replacement fee:

Replacement fee library card:  € 2.50.

Replacement fee student card: € 5.00.

Request books from TU Apeldoorn or John Smyth Library Amsterdam

Books from the collections of the Theological University Apeldoorn and John Smyth Library (and not in any form in the collection of TU Kampen) can be requested via the catalogue of TU Kampen, and picked up in Kampen. For students and staff of the TU Kampen this service is free. For other patrons a fee applies: € 5.00 per volume.
Note: When not picking up these requests, a fine of € 5.00 per volume will be charged to all patron types.

Request books from other libraries (ILL)

When requesting material from other libraries, the university will mediate for staff and students of the TU, but any cost involved is to be paid by the applicant. Requests can be send to the library.

– borrowing a book from another Dutch library: € 13.00 per volume

– photocopies of articles from another Dutch library: € 6.50 per article

Photocopying or scanning

It is possible to make photocopies or scans (to your e-mail adress of USB). There are no costs applied to scan, photocopies are € 0,05 per copy – A4. Students and staff pay a reduced fee.

It’s also possible to have photocopies made at an extra charge.

Wifi

There is Wifi (Eduroam) present in the library.

Other

It is not allowed to eat or drink in the library. Therefore, there is no coffee or tea machine.
The library has limited wheelchair access. The lending desk is located on the first floor. There is a stairlift available.

Frequently Asked Questions

Membership is open to everyone. Library cards can be obtained during office hours (Monday to Friday 9.00-17.00 hrs) from the Service desk of the Library. To get a library card you have to show a personal identification document and a recent proof of address.

When you are registered as a member of the Library, you have to choose your own password. Your password will be case-sensitive, and must be six characters or more, with at least one non-alphabetic  character. The characters semicolon (;), colon (:), apostrophe (‘), and period (.) are not allowed.

To reset your password, click on the “Sign-in” button in the top right corner, and then “Set/reset password”.

Your username is your borrower number. This is the number on your library card.

You will receive an e-mail as soon as a book is ready to be collected at the Service desk  of the Library.  Requested works have to be collected within one week. Books may be collected at any time during the  Library’s opening hours.

All online databases and journals can be accessed locally at the Library. Only university staff and students have access to most of the e-resources outside the Library. When prompted for user account and password, please use your borrower number.

The maximum number of borrowed items, differs per borrower type. These numbers can be found in the Loan policy under section 4.3.
