FINANCIAL PROOF OF OWN FINANCIAL MEANS

A student has his/her own financial means if they have their own bank account (in a foreign country or in the Netherlands). The bank account must be held in the student’s name. Should there be a joint account holder, then they must submit a declaration stating that the student has sole disposal of the necessary amount.

An original Bank Letter from the student’s bank

An official Bank Letter must be submitted in advance for inspection by the TU.      This Letter must not be older than three months at the time of submission and must contain the following:

  • The date of issue;
  • The personal data of the student (initials and family name, at the least);
  • The bank account number;
  • The balance available;
  • No indication whatsoever of any restriction on withdrawal by the student. With regard to a current account or a savings account, we can assume that balances can be withdrawn without any restriction but for all other cases it must be clearly stated that the account balance can be claimed by the student at all times;
  • The contact details of the bank (branch, address, telephone number, e-mail address and/or website).

A copy of a recent bank statement of the student’s bank account

Statement may not be older than three months and must contain:

  • The date of issue;
  • The personal data of the student (initials and family name, at the least);
  • The bank account number;
  • The balance available;
  • There may not be any indication of restrictions of withdrawal by the student. With regard to a current account or a savings account, we can assume that balances can be withdrawn without any restriction. For all other cases it must be clearly stated that the account balance can be claimed by the student at all times;
  • The contact details of the bank (branch, address, telephone number, e-mail address and/or website).

A printed copy of an online bank statement from the student’s bank account:

The printed copy may not be older than three months and must contain:

  • The personal data of the student (initials and family name, at the least);
  • The bank account number;
  • The balance available;
  • No indication whatsoever of restrictions of withdrawal by the student. With regard to a current account or a savings account, we can assume that balances can be withdrawn without any restriction, but for all other cases it must be clearly stated that the account balance can be claimed by the student at all times;
  • The stamp of the bank and signature of the bank official

Because there may be no doubt that the student has sufficient financial means to meet the costs of study and living expenses, certificates and deposits will NOT be accepted as financial proof, as the balance cannot be freely withdrawn.
