CGK SYNOD DECIDES AGAINST UNITED REFORMED THEOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY

October 10th 2017

The Theological University Kampen has taken notice of the Christian Reformed Churches synod’s decision to end their participation in the founding of a United Reformed Theological University with the deepest of regrets. This resolve terminates the plans for a merger between the universities of Kampen and Apeldoorn.

Since 2014 the Ministers Training College of the Dutch Reformed Churches and the Federation of Calvinist Congregations within the Dutch Protestant Church in association with the aforementioned universities have intensively cooperated in attempting to found a united reformed theological university. The desire of cooperating and enriching the various traditions, while keeping the variety of characteristics of these traditions intact, was and still is intense at Kampen University. The dream of showing churches and society what reformed theology stands for today is still very much alive.

In mutual deliberation with the remaining partners, Kampen University will attempt to find out how to continue and develop  the existing plans for a united Reformed Theological University.
